The search has ended for a 23-year-old woman in Colchester who hadn't been seen in 48 hours.

On Friday afternoon, police posted a photo of a woman they identified as Brooke Rafala, saying her family hadn’t heard from her in the last 48 hours.

Police K9 teams spent the evening searching the woods for her.

She was later found in the woods safe, however details are very limited at this time.

"It's sad to hear that she's gone missing. I hope they find her, I really do," said Shane Elliot on Friday evening, who is a former classmate.

Elliott went to school with Rafala and was shocked to learn no one had seen her in more than 48 hours.

Police were searching at Ruby and Elizabeth Cohen Woodlands, which is where she was last seen.

"It seems like a really quiet area, where people to go fish, feed the ducks, take in the scenery. I never heard of a place where it would be dangerous to go where someone would go missing," Elliott said.

Police looked at Rafala's SUV that was found in the parking lot. Detectives were looking through a purse, while K9 units walked the grounds.

"One of your friends is in trouble, it's hard. You hope the best for the family, you're praying for the family, you're praying for her, it's hard," said Elliott.
